Among Us is a 2018 online multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by American game studio Innersloth. The game was inspired by the party game Mafia and the science fiction horror film The Thing

Among Us as both a Crewmate and Imposter.

How to Play

Among Us is a game that is part survival, part puzzler, and part murder mystery. It sees a crew of up to ten people on a ship trying to complete basic tasks to keep the ship running. The conflict is that there's at least one person called an imposter, who won’t be completing tasks at all, but will instead be trying to kill everyone on board. Crewmates must complete their tasks while trying to pinpoint the imposter. If they don't before the game is over, the imposter wins.

Because the crew and the Impostor have very different playstyles, we’ve separated how to play as them here, although there is some crossover.

How to Play Among Us as a Crewmate

1.      You will not know if you are a crewmate or Impostor until the game starts.

2.      To control your character, it’s either keyboard and mouse or just mouse, while everyone’s speed can be adjusted by the host. What you choose is just personal preference.

3.      On phones, there is an analog stick touchpad for moving.

4.      To do tasks, you need to walk to the correct room and either click the object directly or click the ‘Use’ button in the bottom right corner. From there, each task is fairly self-explanatory.

5.      If you find a dead body, you can click ‘Report’ in the bottom right corner. This will call a team meeting, where you can discuss where you found the body, discover if anyone else was killed, and share your suspicions. You do not have to report a body if you see one, though.

6.      You can also call an emergency meeting from a button in the middle of the map.

7.      After the discussions, you vote. You can elect to skip a vote. If skipping has the most votes or there is a tie, nobody will be ejected.

8.      To win the game, you must complete all tasks before the Impostor kills the crew.

9.      Once you are killed, you can continue to complete tasks as a ghost to help your team, but you cannot communicate.

How to Play Among Us as an Impostor

Select which of the three maps you want to play on.

1.      You will not know if you are a crewmate or Impostor until the game starts.

3.      On phones, there is an analog stick touchpad for moving.

4.      You will be given fake tasks by the game; pretend to do them to blend in.

5.      To kill someone, get close enough to them for the ‘Kill’ button in the bottom right-hand corner to light up.

6.      There is a cooldown timer between kills, which can be customized by the host.

7.      You can either report the body yourself or run away to take the suspicion off you.

8.      You can still participate in discussions and should try to throw suspicion off you.

9.      You can sabotage the ship, either by locking down certain rooms or by setting off faults.

10.  Some faults - such as turning off the lights - make it harder for crewmates to complete tasks, while others - such as turning off the oxygen - will kill them if they do not fix it in time.

11.  You can use the vents to get around the ship faster, but if anyone spots you, they will know you are an Impostor.

12.  To win the game, you need to kill off the crew.

Among us controls

Android

 Among us features a large, virtual analog stick in the bottom left to control movement, in addition to a number of virtual buttons on the right.

PC

·         W - Up.

·         A - Left.

·         S - Down.

·         D - Right.

·         Tab - Opens map.

·         R - Report dead body.

·         Arrow keys - Movement.

·         Alt + Enter - Toggle screen size.

Xbox

·         A/Cross: Interact/Use/Sabotage.

·         B/Circle: Report dead body.

·         X/Square: Kill (as Impostor)

·         RB: Open & Close Map/Close Sabotage Map.

·         LB: Show/Hide Tasks.

·         Start/Options: Lock/Unlock Mouse Cursor (Use the left stick to move the cursor around)

Tasks on the Skeld map

The Skeld is the most well-known map in Among Us, and a large portion of the players play here. Here are the tasks to be performed in this arena:

·         Admin: Swipe Card

·         Cafeteria: Upload Data, Empty garbage

·         Communications: Upload data, Divert power to communications

·         Electrical: Upload data, Fix wiring, Calibrate distributor

·         Engines: Align engine output, Divert Power to Upper engine, Divert power to lower engine

·         MedBay: Submit Scan, Inspect sample

·         Navigation: Chart course, Upload data, Divert power to Navigation, Stabilize steering

·         O2: Empty chute, Divert power to O2, Clean O2 filter

·         Reactor: Start reactor, Unlock manifolds

·         Security: Divert Power to security

·         Shields: Prime Shields, Divert power to shields

·         Storage: Fuel engines

·         Weapons: Clear Asteroids, Upload data, Divert Power to Weapons

Tasks on Polus

Polus is the biggest arena in Among Us and also consists of 12 task slots on the map:

·         Boiler Room: Open waterways, replace water jug

·         MedBay: Submit Scan, Inspect sample

·         Storage: Fuel engines

·         Weapons: Clear asteroids, upload data

·         O2: Upload data, empty garbage, monitor tree, fill canisters

·         Communications: Reboot wifi

·         Dropship: Chart course, Insert keys

·         Office: Swipe card, upload data, scan boarding pass

Outside: Fix Weather Nodes, Record temperature

Electrical: Upload data, fix wiring

Laboratory: Repair drill, Record temperature, align telescope

Specimen room: Start reactor, upload data, unlock manifolds, store artifacts
